Promise in a New Land

Humanities Nebraska speaker Cherrie Beam-Clarke recently presented her story at Heritage of Emerson. Cherrie, an educational storyteller spoke with an Irish brogue, dressed in period attire and delivered a spell binding one act play entitled “Promise in a New Land”. Humanities Nebraska and Emerson Public Library Friends’ Group along with Heritage of Emerson hosted the event. Several community members and residents came to hear Cherrie tell about coming to America by ship. They also learned about the challenges and joys of settling into a new country through the character that Cherrie portrayed.

After the speaking event “Nebraska” themed cake was served, created by Heritage of Emerson Dietary Manager, John Ahlers.
