Friday Night Fish Fry

Nebraska Humanities speaker 008      Nebraska Humanities speaker 005

Fish Fry on Friday night is a tradition in Emerson going on since the mid 1980’s. When it first started they served around 60 lbs. of fish each week. Now 30 plus years later, they serve 400 plus pounds of fish each week. People come from surrounding towns for the event. While living at home Marilyn H., member of Sacred Heart was instrumental in baking several loaves of homemade bread each week to be served at the supper. She now lives at Heritage. She along with co-resident Phyllis Krahmer attended the most recent fish fry. Each week during Lent residents have the opportunity to order in fish from the fish fry. This year we are taking residents to the event if they are game to go! Getting out in the community, seeing old friends and keeping up with the local news is what it’s all about.
